CharlesP
Last autumn I bought a Seeland Woodcock jacket. It fitted me well, came at a good price, and has the right pockets. Almost immediately the zip down the front started being troublesome, and after a few weeks it packed up completely. I rang the shop, who were very helpful, and I agreed to have a new zip fitted and send them the bill, which I did. They settled up by return, and I thought no more about it. We're getting warmer weather now, so last Friday I popped over to Sportsman Gun Centre at Southern Counties and started looking at waistcoat type garments. Light weight, no sleeves, but decent cartridge pockets, that sort of thing. There were two that I quite liked, a Musto and a Seeland. The Seeland fitted me better round the shoulders, and was a little cheaper. When I got it home I showed my wife, who immediately asked if it had an inside pocket. 'Of course', I said, unzipped the pocket, and thrust my hand into it. Or rather tried to thrust my hand in it; but the thing had been sewn up badly and the pocket lining had become permanently attched to the side seam, so my fingers only went in one knuckle deep, or thereabouts. So next morning I went off in the car to SGC, to pick up a better example. There wasn't one in my size, and a most helpful gentleman rang their Exeter branch, had the people there find one, check it was OK and that its inside pocket was OK, and arranged to have it sent to me. All the staff in that emporium seem to be extremely helpful, cheery, knowledgeable, friendly - everything you could wish for. So thank you to the Sportsman Gun Centre for excellent service. And a loud raspberry to Seeland. Two defective garments out of two is not an impressive failure rate. Anyone else out there had similar luck with this manufacturer? NickB65
I must admit my brother in law and I purchased four Seeland coats recently and all were top notch. Two for the winter, one summer and one for his dad.... I can not fault them at all....
WGD
No I have had a lot of Seeland and Harkila kit and rarely had trouble with it, other than their footwear which had its issues three or four years ago but has improved massively. Their retailers and the company themselves are always happy to resolve any issues and replace defective kit.
Matastrophe
I have a Seeland fleece that i was bought as a gift and had similar problems with the zip. As a poor destitute student and rather occupied with other matters i solved this by leaving it done up and putting it on/taking it off like a jumper. However i do have a pair of Seeland neoprene wellies that i use and so far these have been faultless.
Therealchucknorris
That's the first thumbs up for the SGC I've seen in a long while
CharlesP
I've been to SGC twice. The first time for a nose around and to get a 20 bore wool mop, and see about a couple of gas valve wrenches for my Urika. I found the mop, had my nose around, and when I asked about the wrenches a very pleasant young man said he would go and look in the spares box, which he did. He came back with the wrenches and didn't charge me for them. This last time they were very helpful as outlined above. The young man was helpful about cartridges, too, and about ordering a fleece, and about a mobil choke. Having been to a few shops recently they're not all like that, I can assure you. I can only report as I find!
WGD
I have no complaints about SGC either having bought a few things from them online. The last item I ordered was out of stock for weeks (which I was told about when I ordered and I opted to wait); eventually I rang up to change the order for something else and they gave me extra discount and free postage because of my wait. Therealchucknorris
Not doubting, just good to see some good experiences. Ref: Seeland, I have a pair of the Estate wellies with the neoprene lining and Vibram sole. They've served me well for about four years now and still going strong. Will be happy to replace them with a new pair when the time comes.
