johnny
Brought 100m of black pipe to start with. Wondering what pump to use, would like to put the pipe on the roof of a single story extension so would need to puss it up about 4 m
Mike737
I split it into four to a) reduce the flow rate, and b) reduce the back pressure, so that there was a quarter of the flow going through each pipe, but each pipe was only 75 feet long. It is only a small pump from the bay, and can be used in or out of water, quite cheap, and the head is about 3 feet. I get a nice steady stream through it, but I have no idea if my thinking is correct. I just felt there would be less resistance through 4 pipes, each a quarter of the length, than one, four times as long, if you see what I'm saying... My pipework is 16mm black electrical flexible conduit. The convolutions give a big surface area, and it was easy to bend around at the end of each run. I stapled it about every foot using polypropylene tape to secure it to the backboard. I will try again photographing it tomorrow. Mike.
