Hampshire Clubman Classic

Anyone else here shoot the Hampshire Clubman this morning at Ower?

 

We started shooting at 10.30, shot 2 stands by 12.00 then went as the queuing was ridiculous. A few people with us stayed and didn't finish shooting until 2.30 and this was only a 70-bird shoot.

 

We want back to Bramley, shot 100 birds, and was indoors at Basingstoke by 2.45

Only went to Owner once, when it first started.

 

Had hoped to find a decent new shoot locally to replace at least one that had closed.

 

For a variety of reasons we (three, one an instructor) were not impressed and haven't been back since.

 

4 hours to shoot 70 birds? Strewth! That must be a new record even for southern Hampshire.

I've since found out that they stupidly had the Clubman competition and their usual open shoot on the same day. So everyone who was representing their respective clubs turned up along with anyone else who fancied a shoot.

 

There were 20 shooters at the first stand.

 

If they'd have had any sense then they would have just have had the Clubman shoot on.

sussex clubman has had the same thing in the past, certain grounds appear to just use it to get more punters through the door on their normal shoot day.

pretty rubbish when it happens, I personally wont be shooting the clubman at these grounds next year.
