  1. My Freelander 2 has a DPF, when I bought the car they advised to give it a good boot for half an hour, once a month. I use it once or twice a week for clay shooting, some journeys will be up to 90 miles each way and on motorways so for me it's easy to give it a bit of tanking every now and then. Someone I work with had a BMW 3-Series and was getting to work and back along back-roads and barely getting above 50, eventually his DPF warning light came on and he had to take it to a rolling road place where they hammered it to try and get it cleared.
  2. West London and Royal Berkshire charge 'corkage' for using your own cartridges on their caddied rounds, EJ Churchills don't. I've been a member there a couple of years now and visit on average twice a month for practice rounds. It's perfect for me as I can shoot pretty much whatever I want. Before I go out the caddy will ask if there's anything I want to work on, so if I'm struggling with certain targets they will find me something. Sometimes I'll shoot a load of close and floppy targets, sometimes a load of more extreme targets and other times I'll just ask for them to mix it up and we'll shoot and score it as a practice registered shoot. Lovely ground, great clubhouse, all the staff there are very friendly as well. As a member I feel very welcome and looked after.
  3. Certainly is, great fun to shoot.
  4. I've fired a .44 magnum pistol and a 30.06 rifle (M1 Garand) at a range in Vegas and I would certainly not want to get on the wrong end of either, both scarily powerful.
  5. Go and have a morning or afternoon with Ed Solomons, best move I ever made.
  6. We've got a cat and it's utterly hopeless, he moved in from next door as it got the hump as they got 2 other cats. It's spoilt rotten, pretty much only goes out in the garden when we do and apart from bringing the odd live mouse in as a gift, it sleeps. He has a better life than I do.
  7. For the money you are talking about then you should be able to get an F3 Pro in good condition. I've tried the F16 and and quite liked it although it's completely different to my F3 Supersport & Ergosign set-up. Essentially the action is the same as the F3, feels slimmer though. I didn't have any trouble with the trigger on the F16 neither have I had a problem with the trigger on my Supersport or the original F3 or F3 Pro.
  8. If anyone wants to improve then go and see the Ed(master) Solomons. Ive seen him 3 times over the last 15 months and I've gone from no CPSA class to pushing for AA in the next cut-off.
  9. These are exactly the same as Velocity+, they just have a clear case. The 'Kent' brand is what Gamebore are known as in America, the bigger dealers are selling these at a great price at the moment as there were a load of these that were due to go to the States but the order was cancelled.
  10. I'm a member there so get shooting cheaper, but there is no corkage fee for using your own cartridges. As Sian said they have a registered this Thursday for £39.50 or from tomorrow their late night shooting starts. Every Wednesday from 3 they have skeet and sportrap for £7 for 25 targets and Thursday's from 3 they have English Sporting at £17.00.
  11. I was shooting U2 top and bottom in my F3 Supersport until one of them split at the West London Premier League shoot. To be honest I've lost confidence and am not using the Briley chokes that were supplied with the gun and purchased additional 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 chokes and if anything I'm getting better breaks.
  12. EJ Churchill is a good ground to, I'm a member there and it's where I practice. It's not pay & play, you have to book caddied rounds but you won't get charged corkage for using your own carts.
  13. I found these best in my M&P 15-22, most accurate and they cycle the action well.

    Fog

I was horrified on my drive to Southdown along the M3, M27, and A27 Sunday morning, people hammering it with either no lights or just side-lights on. The fog was so bad at Southdown, they had to delay the start of the double rise shooting.
  15. They fitted this to my Blaser on Friday, can't fault their service.
  16. If you are Porstmouth then Southdown is just along the A27 from you.

    DPFs

My Freelander 2 has a DPF and like you I don't to too many motorway miles but when I do I make sure I give it a decent boot for 30 minutes, dealer said once a month is fine.
  18. I'm sure you will be fine, the only thing they might be a bit wary of is giving you the CF to start with. If they ask if you have had experience with firearms and you haven't then I'm happy for us to go to my permission (which is also local) and we can shoot some targets with my .22 and .17HMR, let me know if you are interested.
  19. I think you live in the same area as me. I've had my FAC for about 18 months now and it took around 5-6 weeks from me posting the forms to receiving the certificate. If you get the same FEO as I did, Pete, then he's brilliant. Came to my house in the morning for the interview, then we went straight to look at the permission which he was happy with. Hopefully they will be as quick with you as they were with me.
  20. They are doing me an Ergosign for my F3 Supersport at the moment. Can't fault them so far, they have been really helpful.
  21. I watched Martin shoot the Premier League shoot-off at Owls Lodge last month. He is so fast, it's great to watch.
  22. This is exactly what I did, I was granted a .22 and .17HMR + mods.
  23. South West Shooting School just outside of Ilfracombe is fantastic. Set in a fairly steep valley they have almost an unlimited amount of targets they can throw out.
  24. Put it this way, I picked a gun up that had an Ergosign one on and the grip felt so fantastic I was on to UK Gun Repairs getting my hand measurements done and deposit paid. Should be here in a few weeks, as someone said not cheap at £1800 but I don't smoke or drink and I work really hard to be able to afford things. Mine is left-handed and going on to a Blaser F3 Supersport so I'm not sure what price it is for an MK38. When it arrives I have to go and see them and as part of the price they will fit it and set it all up for me.
  25. As someone said above I bet you are missing over the top and in front maybe. Quartering targets don't need as much lead as you think. I shoot mostly maintained lead and on quartering birds I pick a place where I intend to kill the target and then my hold point is about half-way between the trap and the kill-point. Look at the trap or where you can first see the target, call pull, your eyes will let you pick up the speed and angle of the target, start to move the gun and pull the trigger when you generate the correct amount of lead at the kill-point. Always make sure that your muzzles are slightly below the target if shooting from a position where you are level or above the target. It's also easy to lift your head to on this sort of presentation. It's easier to show it than it than describe it.
