Floaters

My floaters/bouncers have a central pointed spike which goes into the birds vent, through the body cavity and into the head, this keeps the bird rigid and the head still.

The wings are then fixed to the two arms.

Some of my floaters have small crocodile clips to hold the wing tips , others have a spike to stick through the wing.

Yes, mine have the crocodile clips to hold the wing tips but no spike for the head/body.... :D

I can't picture the design of your floater/bouncer.

You must have a centre rod, or what supports the birds body ?

Have a look at this thread where I have posted some pics of my floater/bouncers, that may help you.

Right got, it. That is where I am going wrong. I have the same floater as that but have been resting the bird on top of the main support than than using it as a spike to support it, hence the head lolling I get and the odd bird falling if too windy.

Will try your way the next time!

Cheers

No, mine are designed for one bird, I don't know where you would put the second bird.

I have never seen two bird floaters.

Are you sure you are talking about floaters, as shown in the pictures on the link in my other post ?

Yep, same thing as your pictures, just I have two sets of wing supports so was thinking about setting one bird in front of the other so it looks like two birds in tandem coming in to the pattern.

Up to now I have not used the second set of supports and kept them as spares.

I will be using them tomorrow so may post pictures of what I mean.

I think I know what you mean, but they are a spare set and not meant to be used "in tandem".

There is every chance that the weight of the extra bird would pull both birds to the ground.

Also, it would not look very natural, pigeons don't fly 2 inches behind the one in front. ;)

Thanks, much as I thought but no harm in asking!

:D
