UltraFire Charger / TrustFire Batteries

Hi Chaps,

I got a Night Master a few months ago and its been great... however the batteries and charger (where the issue is) makes a horrible high pitch squelling noise when they are on charge, I dont think they did this when i first got them and i read that these batteries can be fairly...unstable (They are Li-oin - 18650 3.7v)

I have had a look on some sites but most of the battery sites seem to have fanatics on them, which unless you have a masters in charging every type of battery and know the cycles etc etc seem to take the **** out of folks.

Any thoughts, expereinces with this?

My phone charger used to do it at times but im more worried about these ones going up in flames / exploding etc.

Is that because they are dangerous or just ****.

The Batteries have been great so far. Last plenty long enough but its just when charging the charger screams lol

There have been some incidents whilst charging them. Whenever there is a post for "which batteries", there is often responses to say don't buy any batteries with "fire" in the name referring to Trustfire

A lot of chargers do this weather it be for laptops, 18650's or any other battery, but I can't tell you why, some can hear it others can't.

I have cheap 18650 battery's ("ultrafire" / trustfire) that I only use in my cheap torches.

For my NM Venom Strike I use a pair of quality Nitecore battery's.

Charging wise I use a Nitecore I2 intelligent charger, with both types of battery I play it safe and only charge them when am around.

My advise is move to an intelligent charger and Nitecore battery's (protected circut battery's) it's more expensive but in the long run safer and better performance ! I am slowly swapping my cheap battery's out !

ATB

Thanks Chaps,

Matt, do you have a link to any good sites selling NiteCore?

I left the charger off for a few mins, only put one of the batteries on for charge and its much quieter now.

I only charge them when im in the house / work and never charge at night as i dont want the fire risk!

Not quite sure what size batteries you are using, But I bought a Nitecore charger from here

http://myepack.co.uk/batteries/nitecore-d4-digital-charger.html

They also do a 2 battery version

Just looked at your original post, this is the one you need, or the 2 battery version

If you did want to upgrade your batteries, I'd get either Effest Batteries or the Sony VTC5's, again I use this company and they are very reliable.
