Punt Gun
Hi What quarry would one be shooting a .303 or a FAC .303?
chrisjpainter
In the UK? Nothing beyond that for which you'd use any other cal. I don't think there is a .303 cal that isn't FAC - I know John Bowkett was playing around with the idea of a .30 cal sub12 BSA ultra as a specialist rat gun - but it appeared that the pellet moved so slowly that the rats had time to react to any muzzle noise, flinch and dodge it. There are a few tests on youtube of someone testing a 30. cal FX on a fox skull. I think the general consensus was that the chap would use it inside 50yds, but wouldn't risk it beyond that. I wouldn't at any distance. They're more popular abroad. Again if you skim through youtube you'll find all manner of things getting shot with the Wolverine .303 - wild boar, african antelope species etc.
