Couple FAC application questions, please

Apols as I'm sure these have come up before, but can't find by searching. All help v. gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

 

1. In the "Type" box on the form, do I have to go into any more detail than "rifle"?

 

2. Am I right in thinking that if I have a cast iron letter of invitation from an impeccable source regularly to stalk deer and wild boar, that is a "good reason" to acquire a .308, on a first FAC application, and is in fact all I need? (I've also joined a rifle club, am doing DSC1 etc, both to show willing and because I want to learn; but am I right that all I actually need legally is a solid invitation?)

 

3. More unusual: have I been correctly advised that it doesn't matter that the stalking in question is in a different EU member state, which is also where I will buy the rifle to be put on my UK FAC (my foreign friends tell me that, because I am British and resident in Britain, this is the simplest way to do it (and also seems to me the most 'right'), even though there is no immediate prospect of me doing any stalking other than in another EU member state.

1- No.

 

2- yes for reason, but your force is likely to add some conditions to it.

 

3- It shouldn't matter that the invitation is in another country, but again your force may get funny (not sure where you are). If you buy the rifle in another country then you'll also need an EU firearms pass.
