new gun and problems getting it

hi all just put in for a 243 to be told that I have to give a bigger base ground that I have got my 22/250 its a 4oo acre farm had my rifle for about 10 years is this the normal or have I got some one that being funny with me as been told by a mate he as got a 25/06 with no base ground up north

I assume you want the.243 for deer as the 22-250 is a great foxing round?

As long as you can justify the need for that calibre and shots can be made safely, then the area of ground shouldn't come into it (within reason of course).

I know someone who wasn't allowed .308 as it was deemed too powerful for the roe and fox on his land - .243 was the limit.
