Howa Axiom

I had the Axiom Varmint in .308, they're not bad. The rifle itself is great but the stock is the cheaper polymer version which can flex at the front when used on a bipod.

If you get it make sure the buttstock has the proper trigger release for adjusting the LOP, mine only had an allen screw which had to be loosened and re-tightened to adjust it, I got a free buttstock sent by Blackhawk! as they reckon there's no way that the stock should come like that. I bought mine from Northallerton Shooting.

Highland Outdoors should have the stock in stock!, but at about £300 they are 3 times the actual price in the US.

Or you could order a thumbhole stock from Boyds in the US, $99 which with shipping etc. works out around £125.

I have the Steyr SSG-04 in .308, very nice bit of kit but I must admit I'm being drawn over to the dark side after setting up my 260Rem Tikka T3 in an MDT TAC21 chassis, lovely rifle to shoot and very accurate :)

The CISM was a nice rifle, a bit heavy but it's more of a target rifle, if I was looking at a new rifle (and I always am!) I'd be tempted to go for another Tikka, varmint barrel and drop it into either an MDT LSS chassis or the KRG X-Ray chassis.

For something a bit more cheap and cheerful the Mossberg MVP rifles are now available over here at around £600, a little rough round the edges but again you can drop them into an MDT chassis and have a very nice rifle a few hundred £ cheaper than the Tikka.
