pg123
Hi, just looking for a bit of info on kale. Last year we planted a 2 year game cover mix from Kings that is mostly kale. It did a cracking job in the first season. This year the kale has gone to seed and is currently covered in yellow flowers. Is this normal for kale?? Do the leaves thicken up as the year goes on or does it stay in this state?? Thanks.
Konnie
No the plant that is in flower will die, leaving a woody tangle that should stand up to reasonable weather, it will drop seeds that may germinate, if they do feed it with a nitrogen fertilizer. If it is a large plot cut some rides in it as beaters will struggle to get through it in any sort of order. atb
pg123
Thanks. It is a 2 year mix so hopefully the other parts of the mix will come into play now. I am told the chicory will become the most dominant plant this year. Time will tell.
