CaptC
Is it an oil finished stock or does it have a "plastic finish"? If its the latter, remove the stock bolt and wash in warm soapy water. Rinse off and allow to dry slowly. If its oil finished and its really bad I use surgical spirit on a soft cloth and if the checkering is gummed up use it with softish brush. viking
It's an oil finish, but it's not bad. Was just going to give it a do with hot soapy water. But thought I'd check first. Thanks. Lee
CaptC
If you were closer I could have done it for you - and re oiled the stock - Careful with the soap!

Savhmr
Wouldn't advise soap and water for cleaning and conditioning an oiled stock! I'd simply give it a rub with a little lemon oil or similar and then a few coats of walnut/tung oil mixed with a little boiled linseed oil. A few thin coats of something like Liberon Finishing Oil works well too and provides a nice stable surface finish due to the hardening agents added to the oil. There's always CCL Gunstock conditioning oil which is excellent or their stock finishing kit of you wanted to strip and re-oil the stock. I've used that kit to really good effect on my last shotgun.
