Dunkield
Having just bought a Linclon Jubilee 20 bore I want to get the auto-on safety disabled. I understand it is a simple job for a smith, but has anyone had it done? if so, how much did you pay? Thanks.
deershooter
Hi if its the same as a Lamber it is only a bent piece of wire that fits in the safty catch button, and then goes in to the action. If you take the stock off you will see it, no tools required with the lamber but not sure with the Lincoln Regards Deershooter
Dunkield
Thanks for that, I will have the stock off later and see
Dunkield
OK there is a piece of wire, but then I removed it the safety didn't work at all. I have just been quoted £50 to do the job by a gunsmith, so that means it is very easy Does anyone else have an idea?
MC
There is normally a pushrod of some description between the housing for the top lever and the safety catch, which pushes the safety back when the top lever is pushed. Is it a selective trigger safety? if it is it either works like a gear lever in a gate of like a switch rocking from either side. The pushrod is normally a piece of rod or flat bar which runs in a groove in the underside top of the action. If you have the stock off and push the safety forward then open the gun you should be able to see how it works and what needs removing. Dunkield
OK thanks lads, I have fixed it Here we go: I should say before we go any further, don't attempt this if you are in any doubt, get a gunsmith to do it, I was quoted anywhere between £20 and £50 for this job, so it pays to ring round. Removing the rod left the safety catch a bit floppy, so according to the man in the shop, the trick is to cut the rod and leave the stub in the bottom of the safety catch - so the spring clip gives it nice positive hold 'on' or 'off' As always pictures explain far easier, so here are some: Remove this rod, its just pulls out sideways and then backwards out of the tube in the left of the picture. And either chop it up and leave a piece through this hole, long enough to go under both spring clips, OR get another piece of rod (ground up twist drill of the right diameter will do) and that way you can save you rod to use if you want to put the auto safety back on later.
