ShootingEgg
My springer has recently (in last week) started to have what could only be described as the runs.. I have just got a new bag of food, the same as he has. Yesterday i gave him rice for his evening food and this morning one nicely formed poop. So gave him his normal food for breakie.. And poop this afternoon is liquid again... Dont think he is unwell and id hope the food isnt causing it.. I have just dropped the amount he is having as the age to weight guide on the food states to. Could that cause him to pass runny poop? Cheers Adam

WGD
Dropping the amount wouldn't normally give them the runs, feeding to much can. Maybe just a touch of colitis, feed him chicken and rice (cooked) for a couple of days then reintroduce his normal food mixed in with the chicken and rice in increasing proportions and if he's no better your vet should be able to give you something to sort him out. One of mine used to be like that intermittently for no good reason, vet used to give me sulphasalzine (aka "wee orange tablets") which would sort her out within 24 hours. ShootingEgg
Well the lil chap has been on rice and chicken and he is now doing firm poops but still concerned he has lost some weight. When speaking with the chap who trains him(me), he advised maybe get a sample to the vets just incase. So im on poop watch now..
