sandersj89
I put my papers in for .22LR and .17HMR a couple of weeks ago and got the call Saturday morning for home visit. Had not had time to fix the cabinet but it was there on show and the FEO knows me of old as he has handled my shotgun renewals twice. He arrived on cue an hour larter and 15 mins after he arrived he was happy to say I could have both and would get the land checked ASAP to see it has been cleared in the past, which I believe it has. (Bit complex as I live in Sussex but have land in Devon and Surrey to shoot over). Wait for Sussex is about 6 to 8 weeks at the moment. For .17HMR it will state Vermin and Fox For .22 it will state Vermin. So now I need to get the cabinet in ASAP for him to pop back to check it is secure and then I need to decide on rifles and scopes! Does anyone know Devon and Cornwalls and Surrey police's view on .17HMR on fox? Jerry
njc110381
As far as I'm aware, it doesn't matter what their views are. If it's on your ticket, you should be able to do it without any problems
naddan28
I never realised that you could have land on your ticket in a different police force. Do you reckon you could I keep my guns in kent when living in hampshire on a SGC, as I will be living in rented accomadation in hamps for a year but will be shooting in kent. With shot gun shoot all over the country, mainly in the south and my guns travel with me. never been an issue as SGC are not land specific. For my FAC the FEO who covers where I live did not have a problem with me having land outside his area and said the new national system for land approvals means he can check out what or what not it has been approved for. So the guns will live with me in sussex but get used in Surrey and Devon. When away from home he said they had to be secured and under my control at all times. Devon is easy as I have an cabinet there as well. I used to store my shotguns in Devon and lived in Sussex and had a sussex SGC. There was no issue at all. All guns are with me now. Jerry Thanks, thats good news! I have been considering getting a shotgun for the past few months but thought I would leave it until july when I move away and start working. However, I realised living in rented accomdation in a house share means it wont be practical or maybe even possible to store my gun in accomdation. So the question is can I apply for a cert in Hampshire but have my guns kept in kent? As its being my first cert and the guns will be stored in a different county I thought it would be a no no as the FLO couldn't inspect it. Similarly, I couldn't apply in Kent as I would be living in Hampshire and not at home for the interviews and inspection.
