I have just purchased a new rifle and have found out that my thread pattern is 1/2 28tpi not the norm 1/2 20tpi.

I have two moderators and both are 1/2 20tpi, one is a sak and the other a-tec, I know I can sell one and send my ticket off for a variation, but to try and save myself time can I just purchase the bottom part of either moderator with the 1/2 28tpi thread and swap over?

So I'm not buying a full mod just the thread part that I need?

Thanks

Where can I buy these adaptors?

I had a quick look on the net and couldn't come up with anything. I spoke to my local rfd and he said that there is nothing like it on the market?

Thanks

Glad your RFD is the font of all knowledge - I suggest changing to one that does more than sell shotgun ammo & Chinese airguns (just a stab in the dark on his main trade given his in depth grasp of the available options)

I've used quite a few such items - they are more common in the USA - so a certain auction site there is the place to go; but we are not allowed to post links to it or to item numbers/trader names (ETA: JUST had a look - one in Cyprus for $25 including P&P - and that is BEFORE I start to dig through about 3000 listing results to find cheaper ones...)

BUT

That is the port of last call for them due to P&P - ask around to see if anyone you know has a lathe, as they ARE both commonly used threads: common UK one is 1/2"x20 (called 1/2" UNF) & the USA one is the 1/2"x28 (called 1/2" UNEF) = The "F" meaning Fine & the EF meaning Extra Fine

If you get stuck let me know
