Cranfield
I was shooting over some wheat stubble this morning and although it was a bit slow (14 birds in 2 hours), I was confident things would pick up later. During one quiet spell I noticed the sudden increase in swallows over the field, more kept coming and eventually they were like a 20 acre swarm of bees. I didn't shoot at any of the pigeons that came in, as I was sure I would kill some of the swallows. Hoping they would go away I sat it out, but after another 2 hours they showed no sign of going and in fact there were more sitting on the wires. Admitting defeat , I packed up and moved on. Living so close to the Channel we are use to seeing the migrating birds coming and going, but I have never seen so many compressed into a reasonably small area. FalconFN
Had a similar thing this year with house martins, although I wasn't shooting but walking the dog. Two fields had around 150 flying around feeding. They seemed to spend a minute in one field before going to the next, and then back again.
