Cakie174
Nice one mate, thats what i want. Tell me i have heard reports that they can howl quite a lot at night. Any truth?
Cakie174
I meant GSP's and not just wives. ( I expect they do)
Browning
He's my third GSP and I've never had one that howled at night, apart from the early days when they're first seperated from their siblings. Only things to be aware of, and I guess this goes for any working dog, is that they need lots of excercise and attention. If they get bored they could be a real pain. The guy that I got the pup from just called me to see if I'd take on another from the litter. Apparently the person that originally took the pup both worked full time (They lied when he originally sold the pup to them), only excercised the pup for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night during the week. Left the pup in the house on his own all day every day, and the wondered why he ate the sofa and carpet !!!!! They took him back to the breeder who now needs to re-home him. Other than that they're a great breed, very affectionate and will do anything to please you once they understand who's boss. Good luck with finding a pup. BigDave15
Nice Dog! Iv always wanted a GSP my mates got one hes 100 Acres that he walks it on 2 twice a day and I still manages to be pretty active during the evening. They used to call it duracell after the battery cos it kept going 90% longer than any other dog on the shoot!
Browning
Cheers Dave, He's a stayer allright. I'd be happy if I had 1/10th of his energy.
Cranfield
That is a very nice looking dog. Train him well, that helps keep them happy.
Browning
Thanks for that Cranfield, I certainly intend to do my best by him. He's just gone 8 months and coming on very well. He's got to the stage where he knows he's pleasing you and it really shows on his face ! I'm beating on a couple of shoots next season, so hopefully I'll be able to start working him, probably not next season, but the season after. Many thanks to the advice I've had from this forum.
