remmy1100 Posted October 17, 2015 Report Share Posted October 17, 2015 well visited some land tonight ive permission on that surrounds a nature reserve first field i stepped into was two foxes frolicking 250 yards away only had .22 so knew id need to get close i covered ground quickly scanning with nv spotter as i went got into 100 yards then they split up tried a few squeaks but one just started calling so i moved in it wasnt bothered by me just kept calling to the other which had now sat down on a track .I got to 65 yards and was confident of a clean kill, up with the sticks and could see it crystal clear in the photon dot between eyes and it was goodnight .was really nice dog fox in superb condition.theres been several geese found half eaten around the place so hopefully one of the culprits ,i was in another field nearby 30 minutes later and was 2 badgers feeding 4 roe deer then a fox came in calling looking for its mate i think... it wasnt a safe shot so left for another night .there deffo pairing up early. Not a fan of using a .22 for foxes as it means that you have to use your legs Prefer the .243 so I can pitch up and not have to move far. Sorry bud just taking the mick on this one. I have shot a few over the years with the .22 rimfire and totally agree with your comments. Keep up the good work.
