As above however with a light weight 12 gauge + light loads [3/4 or 7/8 oz] = light recoil. That's what I did for my young sons and they managed fine. If you are going to use 1 1/8 oz loads it will increase recoil. When I was younger a lot of people shot light 12 gauge SxS with 1 oz loads and I don't recall recoil being an issue. There are real bargains to be had if you decide to go for a SxS, they are out of fashion at the moment hence the prices but fine for game or clay's. Hope this helps.

I think the problem here is gun weight ,in so much as the handle able weight ,

O/Us do tend to be heavier than SxS's ,one reason so many go for the 20 bore option .

I would suggest that a 26" gun may be the route you need to take at as again it will make the gun easier to handle . Ladies tend to have small hands so a semi pistol /POW or straight had stock may be an advantage ,again O/Us tend to be bigger in the hand than a SxS so the small bore guns are favoured for this .

In you price range you are limited and there are lightweight guns out there but they do tend to be a bit on the primitive side , tInvestarm is a good example .
