Webley Scott 2000 SxS?

Has anyone seen one of these up close? I'm drawn to it in theory as the boxlock is an attractive shape, 3" chambers and multichokes would future proof it to a reasonable extent. I believe they're made in Turkey, so I wonder how well made they actually are? Also, what's the pricing on them? I can't seem to find much about them googling other than the usual fatuous reviews. A pretty double trigger boxlock would be very appealing.

They are made in turkey as are all the Webley and Scotts now, but they are made in three different factories, the 4.10 and 28g are made by yildiz, the 900 is made in another factory and the 2000 and 3000 series are made in the 3rd factory.

The 2000 series is made much better than the 900's and is actually a nice gun, if you find one with a nice piece of wood even better. I am sure you would be happy with your purchase, my only concern would be potential resale value but if you were to buy it at the right price in the first place you should be ok.

If you buy new from a dealer push hard for a good deal as they get very good deals from the wholesaler on these with special promotions, but obviously this will not be the case if you get them to order one in.

Of course there is always the argument of whether or not your money would be more wisely spent on a more reputable name or an old English gun?

That's the conundrum. They look nice in the pictures, but what the quality of the workmanship is like I have no idea. Is it a proper leaf spring boxlock action or an adapted O/U coill spring action? I have an older English boxlock which I have a huge sentimental attachment to, but the chance of a gun I could put steel through safely is very appealing, especially given the likelihood of a future lead ban, or at least further restrictions. Any ideas what kind of price would be reasonable in a gun shop?

I bought one in the summer with the thought of future proofing it with regards to lead being banned. I have the double trigger straight stock version and I really enjoy shooting it. They do single non selective triggers and a Prince of Wales stock also. It is a bit early to say whether it will stand the ravages of time but so far it has a clean sheet on the mechanicals. One thing to watch is being because they are built to a budget there isn't much time spent on getting the wood to metal fit spot on so there can be a fair bit of extra wood where the stock meets the action. That said, I love the case hardened look and plan on keeping it so resale value isn't something I am going to worry about.

Sportsman Gun Centre were doing a promotion earlier in the year. Not sure whether that is still on.
