fenboy
Long range due to the walk , not the shooting . I had a message Thursday night from washwildfowler to say he had today off work and did I fancy doing a tide flight today ,my answer as usual was daft question of course I did. The place we chose was a new location for me and involved a walk of over a hour each way , which is plenty weighed down with decoys cartridges etc . There were a few wigeon on the mud when we arrived but things were slower than expected , our first chance was at three mallard that came over head and which we both managed to miss somehow We then had to wait a while until a single wigeon came across the decoys , I made no mistake this time and it dropped to my first shot . Next chance was another single wigeon which washwildfowler managed to drop with his first shot as it flared away from the decoys . Last thing to find its way into the bag was yet another single wigeon which I shot as it went wide of the decoys , this one dropped well out into the tide and my lab Milo made an excellent retrieve , I thought he had lost it for a moment but when he spotted it his swimming went up two gears and it was something to behold , I have included a video washwildfowler did of the retrieve. From then on things were very slow and we both missed our final chances at a pair of mallard and another wigeon . Our duck were certainly earned today.
