john kent
Hi everyone, I'm new on here so be gentle. I used to do alot of shooting in my youth and I'm now trying to get back into it and was after some advice regarding shooting pigeons with an air rifle. Is it worth using lofted decoys to bring birds into range ?
bruno22rf
Hard to decoy pigeons into some trees but "sitty" trees (where birds tend to land to scan the area) are another matter-time spent simply watching the birds is time well spent. Other best way is to look at where the birds roost-check the ground for droppings but be aware that birds will roost in thicker cover when its colder so move from one tree to another depending upon conditions. evo
I,ve had some excellent days shooting pigeons using decoys but to be honest Bruno is spot on above,,spend a couple of days with some bino,s watching where the pigeons are landing in the tree,s as they will have their favourites , get below them ,keep still and even put a few decoys below the trees also and you will have a great days sport, welcome to the forum by the way atb Evo
