hellier0437 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Share Posted April 20, 2007 i am thinking of getting a crossman rarcatcher for control of rats around the chicken shed. before i get one, was going to find out how good they are. what is the maximum range against rats? Can they be used for rabbits and other quarry as well and if so to what range or is 10ft lbs not enough? how many shots do you get per small CO2 capsual? also, are the CO2 pistols good enough for close range rats or not? thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The person to talk to is Beatingisbest! He absolutely loves his takes rabbits all day and every time someone mentions getting a PCP he says get a ratcatcher! drop him a Pm or wait for him to appear online (he should do later!) great lad very knowledgable and has answered many a stupid question from me reagrding air rifles, rf's, cf's sg's and quarry! UH OH! Ratcatchers are great guns for the money, many might say that they are a waste of time, dont let this put you off!. I use mine for rabbits mainly and the only thing that i dont like about it is the fact it isnt 11ftlbs. A lot of people say that if a rifle isnt full power it shouldnt be used for hunting, as long as you are within about 30 yards or so, it will perform, it just depends if you can hit the mark with it (im sure you can!). I use the scope that came with it (4x15) tiny, but works, you might want to upgrade the scope, i wouldnt put anything bigger than a 3-9x40 on it personally. You really need a silencer for it because they are loud, but i dont have one on mine Like said earlier it is accurate, it will shoot 1/4" at 20 yards.
