ShootyMagee
Does anyone know much about a gun / company called Classic Game? rather rashly bought one based on the feel and looks. Let a friend shoot it and he says its like his old winchester. Its in good nick with 3inch chamber and m/c. got it as a second o/u for mates to use and only paid £300 so not too concerned with value. Brodie
Could it be a "Classic Double"? I believe they took over manufacturing the Winchester 101 and succeeding models.
ShootyMagee
Hmmm, just has classic game on the barrel. Looks very similar to the 101 wood from pics on the internet. If it the same then I am chuffed as I have read good reviews of the 101 on this very forum. Not shot it yet myself but will do this Sat at Coniston clay ground. Westward
Classic Doubles was simply a brand name. They were built by Kodensha in Japan who also built most (if not all) the Win 101s to the exact same design. The same gun was also sold under the Nikko label. Eagle Arms in the US also marketed them as Gold Eagle Shadows and at various grades up to truly stunning. There was a lot a politics going on between Olin who owned Winchester at that time (and still owns the Winchester ammo brand) and Kodensha who were accused of building the Nikkos to a higher standard than the 101s. This resulted in a major falling out and Kodensha soon went bust, leaving Classic Doubles and Eagle without a gun to sell. ShootyMagee
Great info. as per grade its not stunning by any shout but seems tight and a nice looking gun. Proofs in the shooting i guess.
