Semis can be restricted in a few ways slieve in the mag tube crimps a few ways, yours should have been restricted in such a way to alow you to get two cartridges in the mag tube now the gun may well have had this done properly, but if say they used a slieve in the mag tube it may be the mag spring is binding up on the edge of the slieve something like that, you need to look carefully at how its been done, the mag tube should be bonded so access is limited, but you may be able to see the problem and rectify it if you strip the gun down. as far as you can.

Auto 5 or newer A5 ?

If the older model , It may have a restrictor plug inside the mag tube...some previous owner erring on the side of caution for shooting doubles at clays

Undo the magazine cap and remove the barrel and you should see whats inside

At a push you can remove the mag tube , only if damaged , as they are threaded and very securely held with Loctite but be very careful as you can bend or crush the tube..use a strap wrench and some heat on the threads

Recommend a proper gunsmith do this and not a gunshop as not really a diy job

Strip down manual here http://www.midwestgunworks.com/field_service_manual/browning_auto_5_field_service_manual.pdf

More here http://www.shotgunworld.com/images/BROWNINGA5DISASSEMBLY.pdf

First thought was that the tube had been removed and reversed , as you can with a Win SX1 , but I believe the threads are different on the ends of an A5 mg tube i.e very fine one end , coarser on the mag cap end.

Interesting post, I have been eyeing up an old A5 in my local RFD, its in pretty poor cosmetic condition but the bore looks very clean. Not sure of the age but it has a prince of wales type stock which is very dark.

Seems like a nice project gun but reading that service manual posted kindly by TDS seems a complex beast. Wonder if anyone has tackled a strip down and clean on one of these themselves and has any comments or advice?

Sorry dont mean to hijack the thread!!!
