The definitive account of perhaps the most controversial campaign group of modern times: Fathers 4 Justice, the group which established the phrase “fathers’ rights” as part of the political lexicon. This searingly honest, brutally irreverent and inflammatory portrayal explores the genesis of the Fathers Revolution, the lasting legacy it has left in it’s wake, and unmasks for the first time the turbulent story behind the groups founding father, Matt O’Connor in his own words.

His demons, his divorce, his struggle to see his children and how he began the Herculean battle for equal parenting by taking on the British Government and the Family Legal System with a handful of dads, a ladder and an awful lot of lycra. Started as a vehicle for social change, F4J became the high-wire act of protest groups whether powder-bombing the Prime Minister in the House of Commons, scaling the balcony at Buckingham Palace in a Batman costume or invading the Pulpit at York Minster during a General Synod Service.

Now for the first time O’Connor tells how the stunts were planned, how national security was repeatedly breached and exposes for the first time the truth behind the alleged plot to kidnap the Prime Minister’s five year old son. This honest and compelling account humorously chronicles the highs and lows of the campaign and of O’Connor’s own personal struggle, and the lasting legacy it has left in its wake. Most importantly of all though, it is a story about the Herculean struggle of ordinary fathers who battled Solicitors, Judges, Archbishops, MP’s, Undercover Journalists, Special Branch Officers, MI5 and even the FBI in an effort to see the children they had been denied access to by the Family Courts and the British Government. A story which has resulted in the take-up of copy-cat groups throughout the First World.

“…when historians look back on British Society at the start of the third millennium they will accord a small but important chapter to the men in tights.”

The Times Newspaper, January 2006

“…fiercely intelligent, charmingly foul-mouthed and a fantastic turn of phrase…few could equal O'Connor when it comes to taking a conversational thread, yanking, unraveling and generally running with it.”

Will Self, Author & Journalist, GQ Magazine, June 2006

“Matt O'Connor should be a national folk hero.”

Mark Alexander, Arena Magazine, July 2006

“O’Connor masterminded some of the biggest political stunts of recent years.”

Esquire Magazine, 2005

“Captain of Dad’s Army”

GQ Magazine, 2005

“This is how O’Connor, 38, talks: at a mile a minute, in conversation riddled with tangents, coarse jokes, copious “you knows” and pop culture references…an attention seeking mastermind…not only could O’Connor start a fight in an empty room, it’s difficult to imagine him being happier than doing so.”

Andrew Mueller, The Independent on Sunday, April 2006

“Fathers 4 Justice masterminded some of the biggest political stunts of recent years.”

Esquire Magazine, 2005

PR Office, Scotland Yard

“Matt O’Connor should take out a full page advertisement apologising for starting Fathers 4 Justice.”

Yasmin Alabiah-Brown, Evening Standard

“Fathers 4 Justice? The worst campaign group I have ever heard of.”

Downing Street Press Spokesman

Good for you TrakkerO1 - for bringing to the fore one of Britain's biggest injustices and yet again showing how patronising the law and politician's are to rights of the so called weaker sex. it shouldn't be about what the mother or father wants - it should be about what is best for the child and offers them the best starty or help through life. And it should be obtained from the child without help from either parent and reviewed every 6 months to a year. How many folks on these pages grew up without contact from their dads? I'm sure in most instances your mum's were great to you - or so you thought until later in life when you started asking "what was my dad like?" "Was (is) he really as bad as she says?"

Oh I'm in no doubt that quite few dads were out and out scoundrels - but what about the ones who were'nt?

Dads need to have rights as well - fatheres4 justice get my support as long as they keep it legal!

Good one TrakkerO1 :good:
