figgy Posted April 22, 2016 Report Share Posted April 22, 2016 If we look on Johnnyoftheboys list of speeds and pick a 1200 fps cart you will get good patterns and smooth shooting carts. Not many trap carts are fast most are 1200 odd fps. The clay can't outrun them. Steel around 1400 fps pattern fine go much higher and the patterns get blown. I think the speed is also relative to the shot size and load weights as to how it will pattern at different speeds. I personally don't want dense centre cores, I like an even spread.
