THE MEK
Just wondering if anyone has been in this position or knows someone who has. After an incident with my wife,i was arrested for an assault charge.weapons where removed (still no receipt from firearms dept). My wife retracted her statement and the CPS did not want to take the matter any further, this was 8th April. FLO contacted my wife to ask if she had any worries with me holding firearms, her reply was no. Doctor was contacted to check medical history again no problems. Fast forward to Friday gone and I have been informed that the Assistant Chief Constable has revoked my certificates under the Home Office guidelines on domestic violence. Durham Force. I am absolutely devastated, contacted BASC but it doesn't look very good. Anyone had any dealings with Shootinglaw.uk Thanks for any replies Andy
robbiep
You have pretty much no chance. The police must be completely satisfied that you do not present a danger to others. By your being arrested for DV - even with the mtter later being dropped - they cannot be so satisfied. Far too many spouses have been 'persuaded' to say that they've no issue with their partners holding firearms. It is taken as part of the enquiries as to whether you are safe or not. robbietherimmer
if you assaulted your wife then it will be seen that you have a temper issue and couldn't handle the situation you found yourself in. Now we don't know if you shoved her over, hit her with a newspaper of gave her the full chuck Norris but it will be looked upon as "what would he have done if he had a gun on him at the time?" and the easiest way to avoid any future trouble is to remove the offenders guns. You`ll get loads of opinions/**** advice (like mine above!) BUT this is a forum so the only advice you should seek is from a professional, be it a lawyer or anger management or both

HH1
Given the high profile issues with Durham Constabulary over recent years ..... it is understandable that they would not want to take any risks with situations like this regardless of how low they might be.
