coolrwatt1
Hi there, been on here a while and never really posted so Hello to everyone. I am thinking of getting a Benelli sbe2 that i will be using for general rough shooting and when the season rolls round again some wildfowling and the occasional blast at some clays and was wondering what people thought of them, do you think this would be a good gun for me? Also i was wondering if some of you who own them could answer a few questions, What sort of price should i pay? what is the recoil like compared to an o/u? will they cycle clay cartridges? Whats it like safety wise as this will be my first semi. Anyone know of any where in northern ireland that sells these? Any other advice you can think of will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone. Ricky.
conor
howdy one of the lads has one wouldnt cycle anythin under 36gm for a box or two but its sound now even with 28gm's. lovely and light. that said i wouldnt swap my teknys for one recoil is also well up compared to the beretta
Dead-Eyed Duck
I know a couple of keepers that have them - they are very reliable. Probable that they do not need as much cleaning as a Beretta. However, because they operate via a rotating bolt rather then gas operation they do recoil more. Don
08shooter
i have seen 2 different men in gushops asking for refunds because they would nt cycle reliably,i have used gas operated semis and never ever had a misfeed, better to stick to the tried and tested route less recoil too. but hey thats just my opinion
bobby t
they rave over them in the U.S, they are much slimmer in the foreend than a gas op and on the benelli web site it does say that for the first few shots you should fire heavy loads for it to then be ably to recycle light loads. they also claim that the SBE2 with the funky stock is very very soft on rcoil. but don't belive everything you read. Thanks in advance everyone. Ricky. ive had one ricky, fair bit of recoil they are only light, the one I had was very finicky with clay loads, a second hand beretta 390 or 391 is a far better gun. for the money very reliable and will recycle down to 24 gramms. saying that beretta is the only alternative in my book I personally wouldn't buy any other semi. coolrwatt1
Thanks for the advise everyone. I'm gonna go and have a look at the benelli and the Beretta Urika this week to see which one feels the best. Any other semi's u think i should look out for? All advise will be very welcome. Thanks again.
starlight32
Best suggestion is to go for an M2 Field, the model down from the Black Eagle. Mine cycles everthing from 28g through to 3" Heavies. Although I won't be putting anything lumpy through until the season starts so far it has been fine on 28-36g. The only downside between them is that the M2 is 3" and the Black Eagle is 3 1/2". But don't worry about that- unless you are a home reloader check out the costs of 3 1/2" factory loads-unless you already know you may be surprised. Anyway M2 is 150 quid cheaper than the BE2 and comes in all the same realtree patterns + Black synthetic Regards starlight32
