Cheddite hulls

Recommended Posts

Without taking over from the other topic on 10 bore cases, what wadding are you lads using for best performance in cheddite 10 hulls? Cheers

Old BPDs about the best for fit the mms and TPSs RSIs etc are a bit sloppy, The PR wads might be worth a try but even though i have a few i dont like how they pattern personaly, my mate swears by them but i am no fan.

Good vallue cases the Chedites but wading is a bit of a challenge, im on winchesters at the moment have more than enough for this season and probably next im liking how they are going with versions of my old favourate loads .

Cheers tony r, iv been using the mm in them, and seemed ok, but as always if there's room for improvement.. I'll try it

Thats what its all abbout most things will work but getting it bang on gives you the EDGE i like an EDGE a sharp one very sharp. ;) .

American wads are under gauged for EU hulls and this cans caise an array of problems both pressure and safety wise. The gases escaping on the sides of the wad seal can cause long fires as well as throwing the pellets astray. Normally, in the US, special gas seals are sold to avoid this problem, so... be aware

One idea i had regarding the wad fit for the chedite hulls, is do what i did with MMs for shooting steel shot in my 8 muzleloader, i used to warm up the wads with a heat gun and i turned up a mandril to push the wad out to make a decent fit in the 8 barrel, it stretched the wad and as such wakened it, but at the muzleloaders low pressures i never had a strike through or a problem, to expand them a little to be a bit better fit in a chedite case would be a lot less of a problem its only slight, you could even try and spread the base seal a little, if you were carefull. TPSs seemed the best fit in the red chedites as i remember this could be the best wad to try for this if anyone fancies messing about to improve things with the chedite cases.
