AULD YIN Posted August 20, 2016 Report Share Posted August 20, 2016 Bloody thing been getting worse just wirring and not engaging,every 2/3/4 turns of the key,,,5 hours just get it off ,wondered why no third bolt at the side of the solenoid ,lug broken off and no bolt but other two tight and the stay bolt tight as well ,tested it and the bendix was firing out fine so dont know what to do as new bosch one is peelenty about what the cars worth, good earth ,bolts tight ,no **** on shaft ,good battery ,good brushes and armature,gears fine johnnie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

four-wheel-drive Posted August 20, 2016 Report Share Posted August 20, 2016 Had a look on the site , put in the year model etc and part i need but the photos of the starters are nothing like my starter,i assume the photos are not generic. johnnie I think that the problem is for the US market they only sold petrol engine one if you look it just says 2.5L or 4L no mention of diesels so it does not look like they will be of much help to you sorry about that you could try to find a second hand one but when I tried that for my 4ltr they wanted £60 or more and I was not going to pay that much for something probably 15 years old and worn out. four-wheel-drive Posted August 21, 2016 Report Share Posted August 21, 2016 I hope that it does not cost you to much but then if the car/truck is going ok with no problems it has to be worth it I used to love my XJ I only sold it because it was a late 2000/1 and they made a lot of stupid pointless little changes that made getting some parts was a nightmare mind you have a 2003 Nissan X-Trail and I am having problems getting a part for that will it never end.
