Volvo v50 2.0 D 2007 anything to look for

I have seen a 2007 V50 2 D sport with 78k on the clock for £3995 private sale.

Is there anything to look for in particular?

Well, I'm just about to trade mine in (55 plate 2.0d but with over 200k on the clock) as we've got a fuel problem. I've been told (both by Volvo and the bloke down the local garage) that the/a fuel pump has an integrated pressure sensor that was/is on the blink, causing rattles and the occasional cut-out :(

 

Whether that's a common problem, I don't know. Volvo in Swiss Cottage charged me £150 to plug it to a laptop and tell me that, and the bloke in the local garage charged me £660 to 'fix' it :(

 

Up until it started to give up, I was really fond of it. Grippy, but smooth and pointable, and I like that snub-nosed shape. Also, good and big on the inside, but not too big on the outside, if you know what I mean.

 

We probably paid too little and got a bit of a dog.

 

I'd have another one but Lady Seagrave won't.

I asked a Volvo specialist the same thing a couple of years ago. He said that alternator trouble was the only weakness.

Well just bought a 2007 v50 Se lux for £2800

Done 120k but everything seems tight and well cared for with fsh

Got plenty in it to get cambelt done then do brakes pads/discs done myself and then it should be good after a mini valet
