walt1980
Got this a little while a go and decided thermal is the way to go, so selling this to get a proper thermal scope. It's pushed into the charging dock on an iPhone and then opens the app to give you thermal camera. I've used it on a clamp to hold on my sticks when I sat out waiting foxes and it's brilliant! The claimed range is a bit optimistic, realistically I'd say max of just under 100 yard, you need line of sight so it won't "look" through trees. You can change the detection range on the display and the colours it shows. A mate borrowed it to check his heated flooring was all the same temp!!! This is the permanently zoomed model, but you twist the ring of the lens to focus the picture. You can record pictures or video on it as well. Comes with box and all instructions are on line. £195 delivered.
BrowningB525
I don't have an iPone, so this is just a general query :( Would this be any good for finding downed birds?
walt1980
Might be ok on something like a pheasant maybe, I reckon a pigeon you might struggle. Will also depend as you need line of sight really. Unless you want to shoot pheasants at night!!!! A guy I know has used one similar, for looking for shot deer, especially if it's getting a bit darker. Said you can see temp difference in the blood drops and follow the trail. I spent a lot of time looking for pigeons on standing wheat this year. Finding runners was a nightmare. I was also fortunate that another shooter had a dog on a flight pons I was shooting on as a duck landed in an unexpected place and took some finding. A thermal *could* have made it easier. nderfel
i have one of these and use it to find rabbits in stubble and it works really well for following up on deer, as you say, anything past 100 yards or so is optimistic for recognition but I have seen deer further than that they just show as blobs though for the money its a useful tool, good luck with the sale
