Hi again guys .may i take this opportunity to thank the guys that have kindly given me information in the past on several aspects of pest control without wich i would no doubt still be wandering around the farm looking a right plonker. .anyway enough of the grovelling i need some more info . i have recently bought four mole traps (scissor type) and this morning have trapped my first mole so flushed with success ive rushed out and bought another eleven my questions are would this usually be considered enough traps and could anyone explain how the moles always set the trap off without getting caught .thanks in anticipation guys :D by the way i payed £5 each for the first four traps but only £1.99 each for the ones i bought today is this a good price cheers guys

hi sam i bought the traps from a discount warehouse near to me called hootys in willenhall west mids i bought all they had on the shelf today i dont know if they have got or can get anymore but i could find out if you want.how many traps do you use yourself and what size of area do you cover also how do you tell one moles territory from the next the fields im trapping are approx 10 acres each and are very badly covered with mole hills which also seem to be rapidly spreading to surrounding fields.

pd its difficult to explain how mole traps work i have seen two types the tunnel trap that you bury in line with the mole run and the type ive been using the scissor trap that is a bit like two pairs of pincers that you bury in a similar way im only just getting into mole trapping myself so i cant help you very much but if you do a google search you should find a few places that sell them a picture is worth a thousand words

I use 50 traps and check them once a day.

I cover 4 acres at a time.

When you catch a mole squeeze it until "liquid" runs from the body and drip onto a trap. Use that trap in a different part of a field or another field as moles are very territorial and will investigate the scent and then get trapped.
