paultap
Hi guys, I have recently picked up a mint synthetic AL391 from a dealer , it came boxed with all accessories and also has a warranty. I am very happy with the gun but have found one issue with it. Occasionally when firing heavy loads for geese in the Orkneys recently ( specifically 50 gram gamebore mammoth shells) the magazine cut off button on the left side of the receiver is activated with out being pressed, and on examination the button is pushed in. The gun functioned perfectly with RC 40 gram cartridges and all other cartridges tried down to 28 gram. I have googled this problem and the same issue has been mentioned on American forums with some early AL 391's firing heavy loads, though no definitive fix was given except to say that it may be a problem with the ball detent on the switch. This was not due to wear either, and in my case my gun is as new. Incidently the owners manual states that the AL 391 will function with cartridges from 24gram to 57 gram 3 inch magnums. The gunsmith I spoke to at GMK had not encountered this issue before. I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar problems and what the fix was before my gun gets sent off to GMK. Many thanks for any help with this issue. Edited December 1, 2016 by paultap
