lurcherboy
How long are the training sessions? Have you bored him? I keep mine to a maximum of 30 minutes. Ask NTTF for proper advice. LB

Guest stiv24
It sounds like you might be over doing it. Training should be fun for you and the dog. I would forget about retrieves for a week or two and concentrate on something else. When you resume use a dummy with fresh fur/feather. Nothing worse than an old smelly dummy. Good Luck Steve Sorry, forgot to add that for every four or five dummys thrown the dog should only be sent for 1. You should keep the dog sitting while you go to collect the rest. This way when you are beating the dog will be waiting for your command. If you let him retrieve every one he will think all falling birds belong to him and will be charging off all across the shooting line collecting them all! No sits no waiting just fun. Get him fired up and really excited. I would do this for 2 weeks to build his desire back up and then I would start doing formals again with a bumper , but i would mix freebies in with it . Be sure to give the freebies a command...I use freebie....and throw one every 4 or 5 retrives. NTTF
