m greeny
I was not going to bother as I had just finished a 12 hour night shift but thought sod it and rushed home got changed grabbed me gun and a pocket full of shells and broke the land speed record to get to the marsh. The first tinges of light were poking through the black clouds as I got in to position. After a short while a pair of teal came across and my single shot folded a drake teal that the dog made short work of bringing to hand. Next another pair flashed past and a single shot brought down a hen bird. A few minutes later another pair of teal flew on as 2 shots rang out I clean missed as the dog looked on in disgust. A fair few pintail were moving as the light grew stronger but all out of range untill finally a trio flew past on the edge of range so I singled out the drake and brought it down so the dog was sent to bring it back. Not long after another Fowler was leaving and disturbed a group of pinks and I couldn't believe my luck as they flew straight over me and I missed so I got the the eye again of the dog. Full daylight now and thought I will have a cuppa and get myself home to bed when suddenly the dogs ears went and I too heard the sound of pinks and they were coming my way so kept down and then they were in range and I clipped the back end of one so followed through again and it folded stone dead to my second shot. A bleary eyed tired but happy Fowler made my home and finally had some kip.
