SNP's latest target - a robust response from BASC perhaps?

No, I'm definitely not Scottish. What the hell gave you that idea?

I presume you've never had the misfortune to have to live and work there for any length of time, listen to the anti - English rhetoric or put up with palpable dislike of anyone with an English accent?

I should add, that when I lived and worked there in the late 80s and early 90s, many of the people with whom I worked were perfectly pleasant and reasonable. However, there was nonetheless an undercurrent of this sentiment amongst a significant enough percentage to make me feel very unwelcome. Plenty of snide remarks and actions that definitely fell outside of the description of 'ribbing'.

During that particular career I ended up working all over the world and never experienced anything quite like it anywhere else.

The Scots I encounter in England don't seem to have the same chippy attitude and PWers, mostly, don't seem to either. But the sentiment seems to have taken hold of enough folk as evidenced by the rise of the SNP.

Back on topic, I can't help thinking that BASC might have a hard time arguing against these ideas given the sentiment in Scotland at the moment and that SACS would be better placed, as self declared protectorate of Scottish shooting and country sports, to present any case instead.

(Actually, Whitebridges, I grew up in Norfolk).

However as the issue would affect anyone from within the UK surely it is a BRITISH matter. Anyway the arguments against the SNP's potential 'interest' have nothing to do with nationality, just simple fact and logic.

And I'd argue the opposite. As these are Scottish decisions that affect the Scottish economy and shooting in Scotland it falls directly within SACS remit of self-proclaimed responsibility in the first instance. If they wish to co-operate with BASC all well and good. Just simple logic, depending on which way you look at it. Regional (it's a regional/ Scottish review of the licensing) first, national second. But, I've said all I'm going to say on the matter.

Personally, I'd put more faith in SGA (Scottish Gamekeepers Association) and groups such as AGMG (Angus Glens Moorland Group). Both seem to be becoming increasingly vociferous and making representations in Holyrood. http://www.angusglensmoorlandgroup.co.uk
