figgy
Just pick a cartridge your happy to pay the price for and go and flatten them. As others have said get the pattern on them and they will fall down , eventually. Had the odd one hit drop ten yards and start flying off hit it again dropped again the flying again third shot finally done for it. I used clay carts round barns and farm yards as most shots are inside 40 yards and half choke does what's needed.
wacker
Crows and rooks are not as tough as people make out. I've shot lots and lots with my .410 hush power pump and they died just as easy as they do with my 12 gauge. If you want a good 12 gauge shell save your money. Instead of buy big game loads just get yourself some RC 2 in 7.5 ( English 7 ) an ounce load really is the i bigest your going to need. As said any 28 gram clay shell in a 7.5 through a 3/4 or full choke will smash them. Out to 50 yards I agree, last year i shot over 1300 corvids with 7.5 clay loads through 1/2 choke. Not a problem at all, lots of pellets in that load. The way cartridge prices are going, it's all i'm using.
ChrisPCarter
Its worth pricing the Fiocchi PL32 in 5 or 6 as I think they may be cheaper than the Game F3I used PL32 5's all last year for pigeon and crows they are fantastic for the price and absolutely hammer them. I paid £60 for a slab yesterday so that's cheap enough for me to stay away from clay loads which I just don't have confidence in at the ranges I shoot. I think they were around £50 last year. They aren't 70mm but they work fine in all my guns including my old Maxus 3" and my Benelli Raffaello.
