arm3000gt
Can anyone give me a rough guesstimate of the cost of moving 150 1.5t concrete blocks 390 miles (225 ton total). From West Wales to Southend if that makes a difference. I just need a rough guide for planning estimation job won't be happening for a year or so just need to put a figure in. Loading can be done at either end or driver can load with Hiab, blocks cannot be moved by forks. Thanks
pegasus bridge
Cheapest route wouldn be curtain trailers , as a guess I would suggest about £700-800 per load, 9ish loads worth.
arm3000gt
Ok, I came up with £5,000 so not a million miles off (8 loads at roughly £600).
pegasus bridge
If you've got a a few weeks time window you'll get the price down a bit , call a few hauliers in the south east and see if any have any empty trailers in the area- there's a few platforms for backloads/return loads that most of them use. filzee
£700-800 on curtains but for artic hiabs maybe more. Depends if you get lucky on the route. If you have any questions pm me as I work in freight

That's the answer. We used to have jobs we did on the cheap to avoid empty wagons.
arm3000gt
Thanks for all the replies I've put in a figure of £8000 for planning purposes. Hopefully I never have to phone someone to make it happen. If I do it will mean I have just lost one of the 'perks' of the job. I love working in West Wales, pleasant, green, quiet and congestion free for the most part. On a clear day, driving along some of the coast roads to and from work it's great.
