toxo
I love my 17 Hornet (CZ 527 Varmint) and will always look to make reloading as cheap as possible. Until the law change I was frustrated at not being able to get some of the cheap 17gr soft points from Henry Krank and then having got some I couldn't find any loading data. I even emailed Hornady and Hodgdon (I'm using Lilgun) but I've had nothing back. So I thought I'd post the little piece of data I now have in the hope others will have at least a start. My primary aim is to find a load for rabbit with minimal damage. I've only just started reloading so this is just to chronical what's happened so far. After the initial factory loads from Hornady I cautiously loaded 8.9/9/9.1gr of Lilgun behind a 20gr Vmax. Haven't chronoed anything yet but I will later. I zeroed with the 9gr and have been using this load for the time being. After getting the 17gr soft points I decided to use the same 9gr of Lilgun and tried some yesterday. This rabbit was taken at 130yds and it took off the top of his head and the following picture shows the complete lack of trauma damage. I reckon a 20gr Vmax would have been far more devasting. I do like this little bullet (especially the price) but will get some heavier bullets to see if I can slow down the velocity whilst maintaining accuracy. toxo
It would appear that photobucket has taken exception to a pic of a nude bunny but has left the first one!
