Terrier training

Does anybody know of a good book or YouTube channel where I can get guidance on Terrier training?

My last two Russell's were a struggle for the first year or two!

I suppose that's Terriers for you.

To be honest a reasonable recall and ability to settle would be a start.

Any book on dog training would do you. The principles involved for a puppy are generally the same for all breeds. If you are looking to enter the terrier that's a lot more specialised. Expectations are different when the dogs are older. I can sit my spaniel and expect her not to move, whine or react while she's sat in a rabbit pen, or at the flush point of a pheasant drive. I would however not expect the same from terriers I have owned in the past. I don't know anyone who could sit a working terrier at a dig and not chain it. It would be impossible to stop it going to ground or chase a bolted fox. As you said 'that's terriers.'

Having kept upwards of 9 terriers in a small pack I only needed them to be stock broken and have brilliant recall. Recall even in a head strong terrier is easy if done one on one , start indoors then in a blind alleyway and slowly work up from there.

Don't expect them to be as focused as a lab or springer but all mine would run back if shouted
