Walker570
I have about 60 once fired 410 Winchester hulls and was going to load them for pheasant/partridge shooting and maybe the odd pigeon or two. I have never loaded Winchester hulls before. I load Fiocchi/Hull and Eley 3 inch. I use SP3 or H110 powders in the main and have some full length plastic wads and some 12 mm felt wads. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
222mark
Use 15 grains SP3 in winchester case for 1/2 ounce load in 21/2" cases. Compression formed cases need the proper AA wad or equivalent or it will increase pressure.
Walker570
These are HS hulls. Are they the compression formed ones? They are also 3 inch (76mm) and hoping to put about 18-19grams of #7s.
222mark
HS cases aren,t compression formed. C&G sell Winchester HS wads but try the plas wads you have. 15grain of SP3 will be fine with 19grams of 7s.
Walker570
Thanks, yes I cut one open and discovered they are nothing like the old AA hulls. I cannot see any reason why other wads should not work. Maybe just a ruse by Winchester to make more money. I will load a couple and see what the result is. Shame to waste them. Thanks for the advice.
