Your 'scope' wording might be limiting responses, and it'd be handy to know if your mates air rifle is a springer: 

 

Are you looking for a scope to add DIY night vision to, a DIY night vision device that you add to your existing scope, or a dedicated night vision scope that was made by a DIY builder?

 

If you fancy a trip over to East Leicester city boundary sometime soon you can have a look at the home built one's I make to order. There are cheaper alternatives that have more field fiddling to fit and set up - here is a link to mine:

Most Hawke scopes are known to be good wi NV - but make sure it has adjustable adjustable focus down to about 10 yards or so to be able to focus close enough for ratting. If it has front AO a cable tie round the objective allows easier focusing without getting fingers passing in front of your illuminator - which from ratties point of view means a sometimes flickering light source.

 

MTC Mamba/Mamba lite scopes are also good with night vision. Low starting mag such as 3-9 etc is best for ratting ranges to get a wider field of view.
