vulpesvulpes
Hi all, I'm looking for a greylag goose call, we have more and more coming into the area now and wanted to get some kit together and get practising before the 1st September. I would like a simple to use call and have been looking at the DJ greylag call but can't find any reviews on the net, what do you fella's think of this call? The geese will be coming down onto stubble fields. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Penelope
The Dave Jackson (DJ) Greylag call is a good place to start. They are a good sounding, easy to use call that you can put a lot of air through for a loud call or less air for something more mellow sounding. I lost the reed and bell part of the call at the start of the season, so if you get one, put some electrical tape around the two parts. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/illinois-river-grey-lag-goose-call-312793.html Some will suggest an Eddie Nixon Greylag call, but in my experience they lock up when trying to put a lot of air through for a loud call. I think I will be selling mine to fund a new DJ. http://goosecalls.co.uk/Pinkfeet-Greylag-Calls/Pinkfoot-Greylag-Goose-Call-Black The DWK WAI Greylag Hammer sounds great on the youtube link, but takes a lot of practice and grunting and groaning through to get it to sound right, and always made me cough when trying to do so. http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=582 The Scotch Greylag call is ok and cheap and does the job, but doesn't sound quite right to my ears. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/scotch-scotch-calls-greylag-goose-plastic-s11865.html Decathlon does a Greylag call which I might get to see what it's like. Their Whitefront call sounds very good. Zink also does a Grey call, but I have not used one. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/acrylic-greylag-goose-caller-id_8226870.html?_cclid=v3_7feeab22-a96c-5c64-97c9-b4f3035da0e5&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2Y_UBRCGARIsALglqQ2CLyOdmURGfFsAi0bkiNwwIr4t4q44wGm91uoBwCL3cAQak_BVq4kaAkQUEALw_wcB http://www.lucky-hunter.com/product/zink-green-interference-greylag-call/ I have used all of the above apart from the Decathlon and Zink calls and will get another DJ call when I have the spare cash. Reabrook
I’ve never got on with the DJ but couldn’t be without my Eddie Nixon Solway Call. We’re all different! There’s plenty of Solway calls come up for sale on various forums etc
