Dating and info on a old vintage BSA .22 air rifle ( PRE 2ND WW)

hello, a friend is looking for info on the above, here are the details, BSA improved model D, Birmingham Small Arms Company Ltd, sole manufacture, serial  number  L 766,         for a very old air rifle its in good condition, needs a change of 1 screw and missing the butt cap over where you unscrew stock bolt,  stock is fair condition, look for year made and an idea of value, cheers

The recognised guru for BSA Air Rifles is John Knibbs. Lots of info plus spares on his website, see below:

The `L` prefix to the serial number appears to date it between 1919 -1936. There are a number for sale on Gun Trader which should give you a rough idea of what its worth.
