Neopig
Whilst out decoying recently I put the first casualty into the pattern of shells out to my right, whilst concentrating on the flightline which was coming from my left ,happened to look over the pattern to see a female sparrowhawk stood next to the dead bird, left it be expecting it to start scranning the easy meal only for it to pick it up and head over the deeks ,it managed to get about 30 yards before I put a shot up which it then dropped it to fly away, within less than a minute it returned and picked it up again to fly in a different direction I put another shot up for it to drop it again and fly off ,at this I went out and picked the pigeon up and brought it back to my hide in less than another minute it returned again to land in the same spot it dropped it only to stand looking about for it, it was comical to watch it was a first for me to see this anybody experienced this before? getthegat
Never seen that before. Nature can be amazing, that's for sure. I would guess she has young to feed and desperate for food, personally I'd have left it for her and let her take it. Great story though. Fuddster
better picked up if shot with lead otherwise its going to potentially poison the chicks. I had a hawk sit in my decoy pattern clearly wondering why the pigeons weren't scattering at his presence-great to watch. f
