High Desert Hunter Posted July 7, 2007 Report Share Posted July 7, 2007 Depends on what I am shooting, for fox and smaller non-game animals, I prefer an explosive 40gr bullet that won't leave an exit wound, I also use these where ricochet could be a problem. For coyotes and similar sized animals, I prefer a god 50 or 55gr softpoint. My Rem 700 with a bull barrel likes the 50s and 55s best, it will put 5 shots into 3/8" froma good rest at 100 meters.
