Dave-G
I'm assessing idea's to light our small lean to white UPVC conservatory. I've revised the 'became apparent' non UV resistant plastic roof which had deteriorated from a satisfactory almost flat roof to a major leaking eyesore in its 12 years of age, to a steeper sloped floorboard and felt shingle roof that will also serve as a walk on fire escape, and I intend to fit a flat ceiling inside using white PVC cladding. (I'll add that the side panels have allumium corner struts and aluminium square section across their tops too - so no need to warn me about the weight of it) I don't want to be knocking any holes through the house wall to connect to the downstairs lighting circuit and having it approved or signed off, so I'll be removing the existing old type striplight I put up 10 years ago without properly routing or getting it signed off: I'm getting old and don't want the kids to have to sort it when I'm gone either. Sooo, I rather fancy having a solar panel powered flush ceiling light - or lights but sunlight is not too good through conservatory glass. I found this, which I'm thinking will allow me to use some of the uplights as downlighting, and simply route the cable from the external solar panel through the gable end as it were. https://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Edinburgh_USB_Solar_Stainless_Steel_Deck_Lights_Set_Of_8-717-101.html Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, along with better ideas if anyone knows of something more suitable. EDIT - Just found this on the same site - and it can be switched on and off as wanted. https://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Vortex_Solar_Shed_Light-544-85.html Edited October 2, 2018 by Dave-G

Dave-G
You could be right John, but there seems to be loads of good reviews about the second one I linked to. I doubt we'll be reading in there - but wife goes in there occasionally for half a cigarette.
John_R
The deck uplights look more like accents than a source of useful light. How big is the area and how high will the ceiling be?

John_R
2m is a seriously low ceiling Do you have any 13 Amp sockets in there? You could use free standing uplights or similar. I really think you would be disappointed with those solar products.
Dave-G
I just got a measure to it - 2.2 mtr so it was a near enough estimate. lol. That'll be the final flat suspended ceiling height if you like: The roof is of course a lot higher at the wall, but wifey no likey seeing the timbers. It'll be too high for her to reach the integrated switch on a flush ceiling light without a little step lol. I have a twin RCD socket spur off the house ring main in there - that's worth thinking about, thanks John.
